Briana & Kristian// Happy Marriage Weekend!

Briana & Kristian// Happy Marriage Weekend!

Let me tell you about these two. Briana & Kristian- you nailed this whole marriage thing!

They went to a courthouse on any other day. Made it official and decided they just wanted to have a big party with family and friends in a barn. Kristian put so much work into the space to make it the perfect venue to celebrate the marriage and he knocked it outta the park. Custom bar with a working front end of a car to frame out the wood and a welded BAR sign overhead. They had not one, BUT two bands who filled the night with unlimited dancing and entertainment. Did I mention everyone wore costumes?! Yes-- these are my kind of people.

Any chance to shoot with one of my favorite humans [Alyssa Burkholder]......I'm in! Normally I meet the couple way before the wedding, but in this case, I met Ashley and Keane the day of and was of course knew I would love them as soon as I met their fur child Doyle. The day provided exactly what we needed, a little sun, a few clouds, and a whole lot of love.

The wedding was on the property where they lived and let me tell you------- anyone would have dreamed of such a venue. Are you thinking Tuscan villa?... because I sure am.

Kylee & Mike // Tacoma Wedding

Kylee & Mike // Tacoma Wedding

There is something to be said for doing exactly what it is I do, being a wedding photographer. We are invited into your most intimate moments of one of the biggest days of your life. I am so honored to have been able to tag along with Kylee and Mike and document their love on this special day. All the feels...all the day long!

Rain in the forecast? Bring it on- we had an absolute blast blending in to the whatever mother nature wanted to throw our way. Take the time to hit play and scroll away to enjoy this amazing day. The venue, flowers, rain, and a little beach action made this day exactly what it was meant to be. Congrats you two. I think you are simply amazing.

Jamie Jones and Cassy Berry pulled out the big guns for this workshop. It was everything I needed at this point in my photography life and more! I'd hang with you ladies any day.

There is nothing better than being surrounded by people who have the same passion that you have and pushing one another and learning off of each other and helping yourself in the meant time be the best you can be.

Holly & Tim// Wachlella Falls

Holly & Tim// Wachlella Falls

I met Holly about a year ago shooting for a local jewelry company here in Portland. I'm not going to lie she is one of the greatest people EVAA! Her energy for life goes above and beyond the norm. She mentioned a while back that her and Tim were going to eventually get married in the woods and that I would be the one to capture it. Needless to say- I was all over that idea and could not wait!

What a day it was.

Full of love, adventure, and beauty.

Finding the Right Photographer for your Wedding//

Finding the Right Photographer for your Wedding//

So you're engaged?! Congrats! Now here comes the fun part, PLANNING. While it is so fun and exciting, it can also be a lot of work. I mean no pressure right? It only happens once in your life (in most cases) so it better be EPIC.

You want the venue to be perfect and the food and don't forget the DRESS! The dress in most brides cases, is their favorite part, which I fully support. It's not often you get to rock a white dress and surprise your hunny and all your family and friends as they tell you how beautiful you are. Let's be honest, you are feeling fabulous on your wedding,  as well you should be!

Now the hunt for the photographer begins. While the venue, dress, florals, hair, and makeup may have been amazing- 5, 10, and 20 years down the road all you will have is your photos to remember that day by and the memories you have.

I can easily say I've never edited a wedding blog post in one day BUT this weekend was pretty much amazing and I just couldn't help it!!!!

These two women have been together for ten years and on Saturday November 7th, they finally said I do.

The day was full of rain- golden shoes- pocket knives- pearls- and a whole lot of love. Friends and family were not just in attendance on Saturday, but they made the day what it truly was- a testament of love. From making the decorations, to showering them with toasts, it was an exceptional night celebrating their life together. They are surrounded by people who not only care about them, but will stand by their side throughout their life.

I wish more than a lifetime of happiness for the both of them. I already know it will be full of laughter and ever-growing love!!!

The best part about being in the photography industry is when you connect with the people on the other side of the lens. This wedding contained every piece of love, laughter, mimosas, and a little bit a crying, both from myself and the groom.

OH SH!T SAN DIEGO

So that one time at photo camp, I had the best time ever!!!

A few years ago I discovered this awesome maternity session on, where else, Pinterest. After creeping for a while I am came across this photographer Andria Lindquist. After much stalking on her page, I was in awe at her amazing images and the way she incorporated her bold and beautiful personality into her brand and website. Fast forward--------> I saw that Andria was putting on photography workshops with small groups of ladies (about 10) in different cities. Regardless of what it took, my name was going to be on the next workshops list! AND WALA!

After discovering I got lucky spot #8, I couldn't wait to get there in March. This workshop was in San Diego which worked out well because I got to visit some family while I was there.

So what is this thing about?      - 10 lady photogs + 1 make up artist/ culinary genius/ yoga instructor + 1 Andria = 3 days of awesomeness. We learned about branding, social media, saying what you want from your biz, blogging <--hehe, shooting, yada yada! The great thing is that when you get that many awesome ladies in one house for a week- you know there is going to be a little dance party/wine/tequila/GoPro'ing fun.

Below is just a little peek at my time there:

When it comes down to it, it was a once in a lifetime opportunity that was SOOOO worth it. Made friends with some super cool women and can't wait to see where we all go from here!

Plus- how cool is it to learn from someone you admire as a photographer and business woman!?! SO COOL :-)
